TroubleshootingCategories and shares
Every subject has the categories Oral, Written, Practical and Other, and you can add your own. How much each counts is set in percent under Subject › … › Grade Calculation…. “Distribute Evenly” always adds up to 100 %. When you first open a new subject, a short assistant asks for categories and percentages.
When a category is missing
If a student has no grade in a category yet, it doesn’t count; its share is spread over the others. A category with 0 % never counts.
Weight per grade
Each assessment can count half, single, 1.5×, double or triple.
Plus/minus and half grades
In new subjects, plus and minus each count 0.25, so 2+ is 1.75 and 2− is 2.25. Alternatively 0.33, or not at all. Half grades such as 2-3 count as 2.5. Which forms are offered for input is also set in Grade Calculation.
Rounding and final grade
Per subject: whole grades, grades with plus/minus, or just the average. “Round Up From” sets the decimal from which the lower grade applies. A final grade set by hand always takes priority and is marked with an asterisk.
Terms and overall
Grades belong to a term, for example a semester, with its own final grade. The students are the same in all terms. The “Overall” tab calculates either the average of the term grades, which can be weighted, or from all grades of all terms together.
How it’s calculated
For each student, “How It’s Calculated” shows every step up to the final grade.
Default for new subjects
The rules for newly created subjects are under Settings › Class Lists › Default for New Subjects. Existing subjects are changed in the subject itself.
